What is a neuromodulator like Botox and how does it work?

Botox is a neuromodulator that temporarily reduces or eliminates facial fine lines and wrinkles by blocking nerve signals to the muscles, causing them to relax. This results in a smoother, more youthful appearance.

How can I prepare for my Botox treatment appointment?

To prepare for your appointment, try to avoid blood thinners if possible, come makeup-free, avoid alcohol consumption 24 hours prior to your treatment and minimize aspirin, ibuprofen, tylenol.

How long does a Botox treatment take and what can I expect during the procedure?

A typical treatment takes about 30-45 minutes. During the procedure, you may feel a slight pinch, but the procedure is generally well-tolerated.

When will I see results and how long do they last?

You can expect to see noticeable improvements within 3 to 5 days after the injection, with the full effect visible in about two weeks. The results typically last between 3 to 4 months, depending on individual factors such as metabolism and the area treated.

How many injections will I need?

Each treatment is individualized to your specific goals and needs once a detailed assessment is completed. Dosage is determined by the strength of the muscle that needs relaxation. For example, for the crow’s feet area, your practitioner will inject 3 areas of the muscle that frames the side of the eye. For the frown lines area, your specialist will administer 5 injections into the muscles between your brows and in your forehead. For the forehead lines area, usually 5-10 injections into a muscle in your forehead are required.

Is bruising after a Botox treatment normal?

Yes, bruising is a common side effect of Botox injections, though it is generally minor and temporary. The bruising lasts less than 5 days.
