A chemical peel is a cosmetic procedure that involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin in order to exfoliate and improve its appearance. The chemical solution causes the outermost layers of the skin to peel off, revealing new, smoother skin underneath. Chemical peels can be performed on the face, neck, or hands, and they are commonly used to treat various skin conditions and improve the overall texture and tone of the skin.
VI Peels is a medium-grade peel designed to remove areas of hyperpigmentation, sun damage, acne and scarring and minimize fine lines and wrinkles. It is safe for all skin types, takes 40 minutes, and it is recommended every 3-6 months.
Before your chemical peel treatment, refrain from waxing, laser treatments, or any aggressive skincare treatments on the area to be treated. Additionally, avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks before the peel to minimize the risk of complications. Ensure your skin is clean and free from makeup on the day of the peel.
It's best to pause the use of active ingredients such as retinoids, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid at least a week before your VI Peel. You can continue using gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreen up to the day of the treatment to maintain skin health without irritation.
Generally, you can expect a few days of light peeling after the treatment. Days 3 through 5 are typically when the peeling occurs, and it usually subsides by day 6. Keeping your skin moisturized during this time will help manage the peeling process.
YES! For at least a week post-peel, avoid direct sun exposure, strenuous exercise, and activities that cause excessive sweating. These can irritate the skin and impede the healing process. Always wear sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin from UV damage during the recovery period.
