Biostimulators
Radiesse / Sculptra
Biostimulators induce your own body to create collagen and elastin. They are ideal for those who want a natural overall facial re-volumization and improvement in their skin’s appearance.
Radiesse contains calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) particles which integrate into your skin and create a “scaffold” that stimulates production of collagen and elastin. The newly formed collagen and elastin replaces the correction provided by the gel carrier, smoothing lines and promoting renewed skin structure. It can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, knees, abdomen, things, and buttocks.
Sculptra (generic name is “poly-L-lactic acid” or PLLA) is a synthetic form of lactic acid which is made in our muscles after exercise. Polylactic acid is lactic acid molecules stuck together in strings (a polymer). Through an inflammatory process, PLLA encourages endogenous collagen production, creating fibrous proteins serving as the structural framework for your skin. It can be used on the face and body.
One of the most significant advantages of biostimulator fillers is their longevity. While the effects of traditional fillers typically last between 6 to 18 months, biostimulator fillers can maintain their results for several years. This is because the newly formed collagen continues to support the skin long after the body has absorbed the initial filler.
Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, and lumps at the injection site. These effects are typically mild and resolve on their own within a few days to weeks.
Normally, it takes time to show results and 2-3 treatments with an interval of 6-8 weeks are usually required to get the full effect. The process of collagen production triggered by biostimulator doesn’t happen overnight like the immediate results of traditional dermal fillers.
It is required to do a massage in the area treated 5 times a day, for 5 minutes, for the next 5 days after the procedure. This guarantees an evenly distribution of the product. Massaging the areas with a firm pressure in circular motions is key to prevent biostimulator from accumulating in specific areas leading to the formation of lumps and bumps.
Yes, you can have both on the same treatment to create a fabulous result, as long as they are not performed on the same area on the same day.
